Modernization of Low Rise Multi Family Residential

• Complete Modernization of two, low speed, hydraulic passenger elevators serving 3 floors in an occupied multi-family residential using completely Non-Proprietary Equipment.
• The Problem: The client was renovating a building that had older elevator equipment with obsolete components and systems that were not code compliant.
• The Solution: A complete modernization of the elevators’ hydraulic power units, controls, door operation and fixtures was selected to bring the elevator up to code as well as improve the safety, reliability and longevity of the elevators.
• Replacement of the entire power unit including the reservoir tank, hydraulic pump, motor and safety valve.
• Installation of new, non-proprietary, microprocessor controls with solid state starters and landing systems and to improve energy efficiency through improved dispatching and ride profiles. New traveling cables were installed as well.
• New door operation and door equipment at each landing to improve reliability and improve floor to floor times.
• All new low voltage, energy efficient hall and car call fixtures and indicators as well as the wiring to them.

Modernization- Baltimore Class A Office Building

Modernization of 2, mid rise, geared elevators serving 9 floors in an occupied building in downtown Cincinnati using completely Non-Proprietary Equipment.

• The Problem: The client had purchased a building where the elevators were in disrepair.
• The Solution: A modernization of the elevators’ controls, door operation and fixtures was selected. A new AC motor was installed on the existing geared machines. Non-proprietary equipment was installed to improve safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
• Replacement of the existing DC geared machine motors with new AC motors. Elimination of the energy inefficient motor generators. New hoist ropes were installed as well.
• Installation of a code compliant rope brake system engineered to fit the existing machine configuration to prevent unintended movement.
• Installation of new, non-proprietary, microprocessor controls and landing systems to improve energy efficiency through improved dispatching and improved ride profiles. New traveling cables as well.

Destination Dispatch Modernization – Baltimore Office Building

• Amber Acres required the replacement of unprotected, single bottom hydraulic cylinder.
• We replaced the original cylinder installed in 1965 with with code compliant double bottom cylinder, including cathodic protection for long-term protection.
• This ensured improved safety and longevity of the elevator, proving that small updates with the right equipment can really pay off.
